The Climb

All it takes is the first step!

Many of us start our journey on the initial action towards our health goals. The nerves and excitement both battling in our guts as we start to make a change in ourselves. The approach to this new challenge seems daunting and at the same time hoping to achieve greatness. I relate all these feelings to my first rock climbing experience. I struggled to overcome my fear of failure and disappointment. Like rock climbing, there are various obstacles that can be overcome by perseverance, diligence, and patience. I thought about my goals and how I will need to at least do something to start heading towards them. To become a better, healthier self, I needed to start the climb wherever I was. Whether I was completely ready or not, or whatever current mental and physical health I was in, in order to become what I desired, I needed to decide to make that first step or climb. To begin your journey towards your goals, there must be the first step. A quote that I love that has helped me through life is, “You can’t fall if you don’t climb, but there’s no joy in living your whole life on the ground.” There will be obstacles to overcome and successes to be celebrated. Whatever is holding you back to start, needs to be vanquished, otherwise, there will be no progress. Expect to fall sometimes, but learn from it. It is never too late or too early to work towards being the healthiest you. 

Ways to Start To Get Healthy:

  • Set Reasonable Goals 
  • Gather a support group
  • Buy whole, nutrient-dense foods for your pantry
  • Hide & Avoid Foods that are Tempting
  • Schedule times to exercise for the week
  • Attempt a new activity
